Director of Children's Services

We are recruiting a Director of Children's Services at a challenging time for local government - but also one that presents huge opportunities.

Introduction from our Chief Executive

Our purpose is clear, we want to improve people’s lives. We are also delivering on our core priorities. Our priorities are set out in our Corporate Strategy (2023 to 2027) which was unanimously agreed by Full Council.

We have a good track record of managing our finances well, whether through a prudent approach to our assets, or maximising income from our heritage sites. So much so, that last year we were able to adopt a two-year budget.

We have also made fundamental changes to how we work, through our Being Our Best Programme, which has focused on ‘Great Jobs’, a ‘Culture of Excellence’ and ‘Smart Structures’.

Our future Director of Childrens Services will play a crucial part of the Executive Leadership Team which will be addressing these challenges and taking these opportunities.
