Tim
Project Manager, IT Services
Tim manages complex online projects, including the design of the council's website, payment and booking systems
Tim joined us a year ago, to manage high profile projects to deliver new online services to our residents, as part of the council's wider Digital Transformation Programme. An experienced team manager who's worked for a local authority before, Tim's found that B&NES has exceeded any expectations he had: "The main surprise is how willing people have been to try new things." This has included new ways of working, and even re-arranging the physical environment. He says of the team's office base, the Keynsham Civic Centre, "The building itself is fantastic and looks stunning. I really like the way we have hacked the space where we work. It wasn't quite right for the team, so we moved things around and have really made a space that we can collaborate in."
Tim finds it very rewarding to see a new online service go live and be well received by service users. He appreciates the new technical skills he has learned from colleagues, and also enjoys mentoring his team and watching them grow and develop, “There's nothing more satisfying than seeing people learn new things and really take to them and own them.”
Tim loves where he lives, just outside Bath: "I'm surrounded by fields and a village rich in history - it’s like living in a picture postcard!" He's also pleased with the improved work/life balance he has achieved since his move to work with us. He now has a manageable commute, and takes full advantage of flexible working: "I'm able to work around my life, rather than having to base my life around work."
