Debbie works on projects which update and improve the B&NES computer systems that manage our Council Tax payments, building, planning and library services.
Debbie joined B&NES in 2000 as a Housing Benefit Officer, and has progressed through a variety of roles to become a senior member of our IT Team. She had no formal training before working in IT, but has learned from the mentoring of colleagues, and has taken two technical qualifications during her time with us: ITIL foundation in delivering IT services, and an Agile project management course.
She particularly enjoys "seeing a project completed, working for the team and achieving results."
Debbie really values her flexible working arrangements. She does a 22-hour week, and works from home, to accommodate the needs of her family. She also cycles to work as much as possible, and appreciates being able to take advantage of facilities on-site that make this possible:“secure cycle parking, showers, changing, dry room and lockers.”
